Dear Sponsors and Friends,

Many of you remain concerned about the conditions of the BHM-sponsored schools and the well-being of your sponsored children. Though we are doing all we can to return a sense of normalcy to the communities we serve, the obstacles are real. Continue praying.

We have moved out of crisis mode and have entered the rebuilding phase.

We praise the Lord that the families in our sponsored schools suffered relatively few casualties, though hundreds have lost their homes and livelihoods. We are working with the local community and school leaders to help rebuild homes destroyed by the earthquake.

The BHM-sponsored schools have reopened across the country, though many schools are meeting in tents and makeshift shelters. Parents and children are still nervous to enter cement buildings, so often, even when the buildings have been inspected and declared safe, schools choose to meet outdoors.

The rainy season has hit in full force. Thunder, lightening, and hard rains remind us of the critical need to rebuild.
