To help you pray for our ministry, we wanted to share with you what the day will be like for Kyrk and Chris, two of our missionaries in Haiti.
The missionaries left the mission headquarters at 8:30 this morning to go to the airport along with a BHM staff member and one man from Samaritan's Purse who arrived yesterday. They will are distributing large pieces of plastic for people to use as temporary shelter.
The first plane will arrive around 10:45 am with some volunteers and vital supplies. There will be 4 other flights coming in throughout the day, each carrying more relief volunteers and life-saving supplies.
Kyrk took some of the BHM staff with him to help unload these planes. Thanks to the generosity of MAF, we are able to store the relief supplies in their hanger. This way we only have to bring the medical supplies up to the mission headquarters in Fermathe, and the relief supplies are closer to where they are going to be needed.
There are many press and communications people coming on the first and second flights. Kyrk, and possibly Chris, are going to take them around Port-au-Prince to see the devastation. Franklin Graham will be one of the people coming along with Greta van Sustren from Fox news. The doctor who arrived last night is really hoping that he can get Franklin Graham to come up to our hospital and see it first hand. He thinks that it is something that he needs to see, to really understand the huge impact of this and the work that BHM is facing with the limited supplies and staff that we have on hand.
If all goes well, Kyrk and the rest of the team will return to the mission tonight around 7 pm, since the last flight arrives around 5 pm. They will be arriving with about 20 additional people, so there are many things to pray for today.
- Pray for safety
- Pray that God would once again allow everything to come straight from the plane to our trucks without any trouble
- Pray for wisdom as they begin to distribute the plastic tarps
- Pray for wisdom and safety as they drive around Port-au-Prince and see the damage. I know this is going to be very hard to see all the destruction and hurting people.
- Pray that everyone and all the medical supplies will return to the mission tonight without any problems.
Thanks again for your prayers. God is answering and doing great things.
