Home Haiti Earthquake Earthquake Serving the Injured Against All Odds
Serving the Injured Against All Odds PDF Print E-mail

Girl with broken legThe Haitian and foreign doctors serving at our mission hospital south of Port-au-Prince have been working against all odds. God is using their hands and feet to work daily miracles for earthquake survivors.

As of yesterday afternoon our medical team had performed 57 surgeries since the earthquake. The doctors explained that every surgery they have completed has been a major surgery, riddled with complications.

In these conditions, there is no such thing as a simple break or fracture. Many patients are suffering from crushed bones, which complicate the surgery and recovery. Though our hospital has two fully operational rooms for surgery, the doctors have struggled and worked around the clock to keep up with the need.

The medical team is also confronted with countless infections in the paitents. Many people have waited to come to the hospital, and as a result the doctors are left with no choice but to amputate the infected area.

We ask for your continued prayers that God will give wisdom, endurance, and skill to our medical team. We rejoice for the visiting doctors and nurses who have provided much needed relief to our Haitian medical staff who are struggling with their own losses as they serve their neighbors.
