Home Haiti Earthquake Earthquake The Miracle of Water
The Miracle of Water PDF Print E-mail

When the Israelites found themselves running out of oil for their lamps during battle, God provided. The oil that should have lasted only one night burned for eight days. Today, the celebration of that miracle is known as Hanukkah.

Like the oil for the Israelites, the water for the mission hospital providing care to earthquake victims never seems to run dry.

When the cisterns began to empty, the visiting teams from HCJB Global and Samaritan's Purse set up a water filter that is able to turn 10,000 gallons a day of pond water into pure drinking water.

As soon as our missionaries began to think the pond might run dry, an afternoon rain filled the hospital cistern. And when that began to run out, they received a delivery truck of water.

But perhaps none of these provisions are more stunning than the latest. Our missionaries calculated that 2 truckloads would provide sufficient water in the hospital cistern but would not fill it.

The first truck load arrived Wednesday. They have been using the water for the hospital since and have not refilled the cistern. So when the new truck of water arrived, they expected it to fit in the hospital cistern with room left over.

Imagine the surprise of our missionaries when water began to overflow. The cistern was completely full!

The team was able to fill a backup cistern and has extra water for when the hospital will need it. We also continue to contact other ministries and share our limited resources.

This is truly a miracle of God's divine provision in a time of great need.
