BHM has been partnering with other hospitals, including Haiti's General Hospital, to receive the overflow of wounded and provide critical care.

At BHM, we have never thought of ourselves as a "medical relief organization." For more than 60 years, we've been dedicated to serving the whole person in Haiti, from building up the local church to breaking new ground in rural education to agricultural development, we have sought to serve Christ by ministering to and with our Haitian neighbors.

The 100-bed hospital on our mission headquarters was, until January 12, a relatively small part of our well-rounded ministry. Since the massive earthquake shook Haiti to its very core, causing unparalleled damage, our modest hospital with an ER, two operating rooms, and a few beds has been the focus of a massive effort by local and visiting doctors alike to treat the severely wounded.

Countless lives have been lost in the earthquake, but many more have been saved. And each day brings new miracles of life at our mission hospital.

Today, this ministry continues to grow as we reach out to other hospitals in and around Port-au-Prince in effort to share doctors and resources. As the medical team has begun to catch up on the backlog of wounded and injured patients, Haiti's General Hospital and others have begun sending some of their patients to the BHM hospital.

We have also sent both a plastic surgeon and a general surgeon to the Israeli hospital to assist with needed operations. We are grateful to the Israeli hospital who has received critical patients from us, including a baby with a fractured skull who needed a neurosurgeon.

We are humbled to see God expand this ministry and we give thanks that our doctors and medical team can serve as a blessing to others.
